Through the years men and women alike are bothered by skin imperfections like acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles or enlarged pores that they wish to improve. Microneedling is a non-surgical option for improving these skin imperfections.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that transforms the look and feel of damaged skin to smoother, heathier-looking skin. It involves a small device that penetrates the skin, creating controlled micro-dermal injuries. This stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin which in turn fills these imperfections, thus improving skin texture and firmness.
This treatment improves skin texture and firmness, reduces the appearance of acne and acne scarring, minor scarring, fine lines, wrinkles, stretch marks, enlarged pores, melasma and hyperpigmentation. It can be used on all skin types and almost anywhere on the body, even around the eyes.
How many Microneedling treatments will I need?
Treatment frequency depends on the area and condition of the skin being treated. Many skin problems can be effectively treated with a series of 2 – 3 treatments repeated 4 – 6 weeks apart as needed, while others may need between 4 – 8 sessions 6 weeks apart as needed.
How soon will I see results?
Improvement is often seen within 1 – 2 weeks, however achieving the desired results may take a couple of months depending on the severity of the condition being treated*. For 1 – 2 days after the treatment there may be some mild swelling and redness similar to sunburn.
Is Microneedling safe?
There is relatively little risk in microneedling performed by skin care professionals using medical grade devices performed in a medical office. Micro-Needling is safe to use on all skin types and colors and there is a little risk of infection.
With or without Platelet-Rich Plasma?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a high concentration of platelets surrounded in its own plasma. A small amount of blood is drawn and the red cells are isolated from the PRP. Since this process uses the patient’s own blood there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction or rejection. Utilizing this method allows us to derive biological nutrient-rich cells that ultimately result in growth proteins and what we call essential growth factors — all from your own blood!
Ask us if microneedling (with or without PRP) is right for you.
