What is BOTOX®?
BOTOX® is an FDA-approved injectable that is primarily used to treat wrinkles in the face. Made up of botulinum toxin type A, BOTOX works by blocking the release of acetylcholine, which is a chemical released by our nerve cells that causes wrinkles. By paralyzing its release, BOTOX can effectively stop the muscle contractions and eliminate the appearance of wrinkles.
BOTOX is one of the most requested procedures among our patients in Daytona Beach, Palm Coast, New Smyrna Beach and the surrounding areas. If you'd like to learn more, including average BOTOX prices, or if you'd like to request some BOTOX before and after pictures, we would be happy to accommodate you. Give us a call today.
How is BOTOX® Administered?
The BOTOX injection is fairly quick and painless. It is performed right here in our Daytona Beach office, administered by your surgeon. Using a very small needle, your surgeon will administer the BOTOX serum into the treatment area. Once complete, your facial muscles will appear relaxed and smoother than ever. And the best part? There's no down time and you can get back to normal daily activities immediately.
Am I a Good Candidate for BOTOX®?
While BOTOX is primarily used to treat facial wrinkles, including forehead creases, crow's feet, laugh lines, etc., there are a number of other uses where it is effective. Many of our patients residing in Daytona Beach, Palm Coast, New Smyrna Beach and the surrounding areas have used BOTOX for the following non-cosmetic disorders:
- Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
- Dystonia (muscle spasms)
- Jaw tension
- Chronic pain
- Lazy eye
- Uncontrolled blinking

What Kind of Post-Operative BOTOX® Care Can I Expect?
BOTOX® patients can generally resume daily activities almost immediately after treatment. The most common side effects include headaches and minor bruising. In addition, your surgeon may recommend that you avoid laying down or rubbing the area for several hours after the BOTOX treatment, in an effort to prevent the solution from migrating to other areas of the body. But aside from that, there are no incisions, bandages, bleeding or anything of the sort, so you'll be back to normal in no time.
What are the Typical Results of BOTOX®?
BOTOX® results are best seen by browsing some BOTOX® before and after pictures. As you'll see, this simple treatment can give your skin a younger-looking, smoother and more supple appearance after just one injection.
However, it's important to realize that BOTOX® is not a permanent solution to aging. Results may last up to six months, but eventually the treated muscles will regain their ability to contract. In effect, your wrinkles will appear again. At this time, you may choose to have a follow-up injection or decide to have additional procedures to combat the signs of aging.
What are BOTOX® Costs?
BOTOX® costs will vary with each patient, so please give us a call today and speak with a member of our team. We would be happy to set up a consultation for you so you can discuss your goals with your surgeon. In the meantime, we are happy to answer any questions.
