Facelift (Rhytidectomy)

Florida Oral & Facial Surgical Associates offers facelift procedures to patients in Daytona Beach, Palm Coast, New Smyrna Beach, Titusville, Deltona, Port Orange and Ormond Beach, FL.

The natural aging process, genetic influence, exposure to sun and other factors cause the skin to wrinkle and sag as it fits the body more loosely. Skin folds become more prominent, especially around the chin, jaw line and neck. The rhytidectomy, or facelift, provides a more youthful appearance by tightening facial skin, muscles and removing excess skin.

Our goal is to give you the most natural outcome possible, which you can see by browsing our facelift before and after pictures. If you're interested in this procedure but you'd like to discuss facelift prices, or any other concerns, please don't hesitate to call us today.

How is a Facelift Performed?

When a facelift is performed, connective tissue and sagging muscles are tightened. In some cases, fat deposits are reduced from beneath the chin and neck, allowing the skin to reposition in a more ideal manner. Facelifts are generally performed under general anesthesia, taking between two and five hours to complete. Your surgeon will make a small incision around the ear and sometimes into the hairline. He will lift the sagging skin of the cheek and neck, tighten the underling muscle, and trim the skin to fit this new contour.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Facelift?

If you are unhappy with any of the following, you may be a good candidate for rhytidecomy.

  • Deep creases below the lower lids or between the nose and the corner of the mouth
  • Sagging facial skin
  • Jowls (loss of muscle tone in the lower portion of the face)
  • Hanging neck or loose skin below the jaw

Most of our patients are 50 years or older, but that doesn't mean that a younger person cannot benefit from this surgery. So if you want to combat the signs of premature aging before they get too severe, you may still be a facelift candidate.

What Kind of Post-Operative Facelift Care Can I Expect?

Following your facelift, tightness of the skin and mild discomfort are common, but this can be easily minimized with some prescription medication. Most of the swelling will go down after a couple of days, but you may experience some facial puffiness for up to two weeks. During your post-op period, you should sleep upright in bed and apply cold compresses to reduce the swelling. You should be back to all your normal activities within six weeks.

What are the Typical Results of a Facelift?

Facelifts are known to leave patients feeling years younger, as they now have tighter, softer and more rejuvenated skin. No longer will you have to look in the mirror and see deep wrinkles and sagging skin. However, it's important to remember that this procedure does not stop the aging process. Your wrinkles will inevitably come back with time, so you may need to consider another procedure in about 10 years.

The best resource to see the results you can likely expect are facelift before and after pictures.

What are Facelift Costs?

As with most cosmetic procedures, each patient has individual issues and goals. So ultimately, facelift costs will depend on the person. The best time to discuss facelift prices is during your one-on-one consultation with the surgeon. All of our doctors are highly skilled and professional surgeons who are committed to giving patients the most natural outcome possible. Call us today to schedule your appointment.
